They also have loads of dietary fiber, niacin, vitamin B1, vitamin B2 and phosphorus.  Check out this sweet potato chilli recipe

Market Produce – April 1

Spring has sprung!… we managed to make it through another record of rain.  Ah Vancouver …our wonderful temperate rain forest.  The first signs of spring is in the air…blossoms are  tentatively making they’re appearance.  It’s still slowly warming up and nothing like a curry in your belly to help with the dampness of rain. We have spinach on the menu this market and one of my all time favourite curries is Palak Paneer… a spinach curry!  It may sound oddly unappealing but trust me it will surprise you.  Once you try it, it might make it on your favourite food list too!  Check out this Palak (Spinach) Tofu Paneer recipe.

Here is what to expect at the market this week:

  • Bananas (South America and Organic)
  • Gala Apples (BC)
  • Avocados (Mex)
  • Carrots (Calf)

Market Produce – Jan 21

Winter Workshops are coming soon!  As the landscape transitions from a giant slushie to uncover the surface beneath. I feel my feet touch asphalt, soil, and grass once again without the layer of sketchy ice and slush between us.  Some more moderate temperatures are expected with the bright yellow globe making an appearance.

A great way to get out and about this time of year is to check out some workshops! Why not learn something new and get connected to the community.  Make some new friends or grab an old friend and sign up for one of our workshops.  Take a look at what we offer this winter at Trout lake Community Centre and Kensington Community Centre
