Market Produce for Sept 26

Harvest season is in full swing, so make sure to come by the markets this week to stock up on your favourites. The Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood House will be hosting their annual harvest festival and food swap, which is tons of fun!

Have you ever used spaghetti squash as a pasta alternative. Check out this website for some great recipes! http://crazyhappyhealthy.com/5-excellent-ways-eat-spaghetti-squash/

Here is what to expect at the market this week:

  • Beets (BC)
  • Carrots (BC)
  • Zucchini squash (BC and organic)
  • Avocados (Mexico)
  • Kale (BC and Organic)
  • Red Onions (Washington)
  • Kabocha squash (BC)
  • Spaghetti Squash (BC)
  • Gala Apples (BC)
  • Cantaloupes (BC)
  • Blue Grapes (BC)
  • Broccoli (BC)
  • Red Cabbage (BC)
  • Red Potatoes (Washington)

In addition, we’ll have a selection hyper-local goodies from Fresh Roots Urban Farm. Fresh Roots’ produce is grown in schoolyards right here in Vancouver (Van Tech and David Thompson Secondary Schools, to be exact). That means the footprint of this produce is much smaller than conventional as it travels less than 10km to get to our markets. You can taste the difference in their food!

So make sure to head down to this Saturday’s mobile market locations to stock up. We will be at Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood House from 10:00am to 12:00pm and South Vancouver Neighbourhood House from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. Take a look at our mobile market locations for more info on how to find us.

See you this weekend!

*As always, produce lists are subject to change. Thank you for your understanding.
