Here is what to expect at the market this week:

  • Bananas (South America and Organic)
  • Honeydew Melons (BC and organic)
  • Watermelons (BC and organic)
  • Beets (BC and organic)
  • Carrots (BC and organic)
  • Patty pan squash (BC and organic)
  • Avocados (Mexico)
  • Peaches (BC)
  • Corn (BC)
  • Walla Walla Onions (Washington)
  • Butternut squash (BC)
  • Tomatoes Heirloom (BC)

In addition, we’ll have the following hyper-local goodies from Fresh Roots Urban Farm on offer:

  • Swiss chard
  • Salad turnips
  • Beets
  • Parsley
  • Kale
  • Garlic

Fresh Roots’ produce is grown in schoolyards right here in Vancouver (Van Tech and David Thompson Secondary Schools, to be exact). That means the footprint of this produce is much smaller than conventional as it travels less than 10km to get to our markets. You can taste the difference in their food!

So make sure to head down to this Saturday’s mobile market locations to stock up. From 10:00am-12:00pm, we’ll be at Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood House (Victoria Dr. and 24th ave.) and from 2-4pm, we’ll be at South Van Neighbourhood House (Victoria Dr. and 49th ave.). Don’t forget to sample some of the delicious recipes at South Van’s tasting kitchen.

See you this weekend!

*As always, produce lists are subject to change. Thank you for your understanding.
